Espana 05 Asturias

Immer den Picos de Europa an der Küste folgend ging es dann auf nach Asturien. Bei ziemlich schlechtem Wetter kamen wir am Playa de Torimbia an. Es geht durch eine Siedlung mit steilen, engen Straßen auf eine kleine Landspitze mit wundervollem Ausblick. Am Abend gab es ein kleines Blueskonzert, open air an einer Bar direkt an einem anliegenden Strand. Ein kleiner Surf in der herrlichen Kulisse war auch drinn. Für Besorgungen ging es nach Ribadesalla, eine größeres Fischerdorf. Von Arriondas aus haben wir eine organisierte Kanutour auf dem Rio Sella gestartet.

Um in die Picos de europa zu gelangen sind wir mit dem Bus von Covadonga aus zu dem Lago de Enol gefahren. Begleitet wurde die Busfahrt von Dudelsackmusik und einer Menge spanische Touristen. Um dem Ansturm zu entfliehen ging es dann über den Lago de la Ercina zu dem Vega de Ario, 600 HM in ca. 3 Stunden. Vorbei an einigen kleinen Berghütten in denen teils Käse hergestellt wurde ging es, immer von Kühen begleitet Bergauf. Nach einer kurzen Rast und einem herrlichem Blick (es riss zum Glück kurz auf) auf das Macizo Central der Picos. Beim Abstieg haben wir im Nebel kurzeitig unseren Weg verloren und sind über eine längere Route zurück zu den Seen. Busse waren da leider schon alle weg, also trampen.

Wegen der Kultur ging es dann 2 Tage nach Gijon. Essen in einer Sederia, ein paar Bier in einer lokalen Bar…

France 11- Bretagne – Baie de Audierne – Quiberon 06.2014

In der Südlichen Hälfte der Baie d Audierne gabs etwas größeren Surf in und um La Torche. Ziemlich geschäftig geworden die Ecke, selbst bei den Leuchttürmen von Penmarch drückte uns ein Dude Flyer für die neue Surfschule in Proscan in die Hand. In Quiberon ging es dann noch geschäftiger zu. Die ganze Ecke sieht wie generalüberholt aus. Neue Höhenbeschränkungen, Womo Stellplätze und die Crowd bei praktisch miesen Wellen am Wochenende spricht für sich. Die Sprachbarriere wird auch immer höher, selbst der Versuch z. B. Fisch auf französisch zu bestellen ging ziemlich in die Hose.

France 06 – Bretagne – Cote de Granit Rose 05.2014

In der Gegend von Cote de Granit Rose gibt es neben den bekannten Steinbrüchen mit dem rosa Granit auch allerhand Granit Felsen und Steine die überall herumliegen. In der Cote de Bruyere haben wir in Locquirec halt gemacht. Leider keine Wellen in den wunderschönen, teils steinigen Stränden (bzw. Reef). Dafür ein schöner Wanderweg entlang der Küste.
In the area of Cote de Granit Rose we visit some beaches with huge granit rocks and stones. The rose granit exists only in the stone quarries. In the Cote de Bruyere we stopped in Locquirec. Still no swell at these beautiful beaches with stones and some reef. So we make a nice hiking trip along the coast.

Alright, here is the last part of our trip.

After getting the knowledge of who is who and where are the nice places, the trip becomes more relaxed. We met some locals, had tea and food at their places and beaome friends with a few. Joining the local markets, buying the obligatory sari and some other nice stuff to bring home and to our friends and family. The surf becomes better and less crowded at the main point. And still some remote spots to surf and hang out. So many diffrent people from so many countries in the line up and arround was a nice experience. But as everywhere also dickh… arround. Ridiculous to pretty heavy to swallow. To relax and avoid another direct 400 k ride (8 – 9 hours) back to colombo, we rode to ella per tuktuk. At least i sleped in those tiny funny vehicles. Ella was very touristic but nice. Even the first breaky kothu was one of the best ever i had in sri lanka. Nice walks and views in the tea hills. It was cooler then the hot south east. At the last day we shared a taxi to colombo with a backbacker guy. At first we was in wonder why the driver always asks for the way, then we understood that he coudn´t read the signs. Actionaly we drove through the monsun, the first time for us and catch the flight home in time.

Sri Lanka – Arugam Bay Surftrip 08/2013 Part 2

The pictures are captured arround arugam bay. The southerly breathe was growing up pretty early, often before noon. So get out of bed earlier and surf the main point, a dead coral reef righthander or go by tuktuk ride to one of the remoter points. After we had breaky and chill in the hot hours. Rotis, pancakes, noddles, currys and fresh fruit juices or lassies, what a delicious life. There is a lot of wildlife arround. In the morning we spot far elephants, monkeys. And even at our place there were gekos, squirrels and heps of iguanas and other stuff. A lot of small fish i jumping in the surf and i spot some turtles.

Sri Lanka Arugam Bay – kumana nationalpark 08/2013

Sri Lanka – Arugam Bay Surftrip 08/2013 Part 1

My girlfriend and myself heading through sri lanka for a 3 week summer holiday. After a long night at the Dubai airport and a long taxi drive throgh the island (included the first curry and rice, khottu and a crazy elephant expirience on the road) we arrived arugam bay.

Surf in the mornings and evenings (pretty crowded on a okish backhander) at the main point, relaxing between the hot hours by breaky, sometimes totaly brain overflowed by the culture surroundings we became friends with the bay.

The pictures are from our first days in arugam bay and a amazing safari in the kumana (yala) nationalpark.
