El Salvador Surf Trip – Part 04 -Las Flores- 08.2018

Swell wird kommen, im Land der traumhaften Pointbreaks. Mit pastilla, meinem lokaler Lieblingsfahrer, fuhr ich nach Las Flores. Ein Traum in rechts. Sauber, Konsitent… 5 Uhr aufstehen, zum Strand den Swell checken, surfen bis 9 Uhr, frühstücken, bischen in der Hängematte schlafen, mehr surfen am Abend, essen, bierchen, schlafen…..
Als der große Swell dann kam ging es, mit einem Boot, für 2 Morgende nach Punta Mango. Ich tat mir mit all den pro Surfen im Wassser etwas schwer, bekam aber meine Wellen. Es war schwierig eine Barrel zu bekommen, das timing der Welle, dann auch noch backside. Die zweite Session surfte ich auf meinem 6’6 Step up.

Ausser Surfen gibt es in der Ecke nicht viel zu tun. Ich hab mir noch el cuco und dandere Sträne. Es war aber schlicht weg zu hiess für groessere Aktionen Tagsüber.

There will be swell coming, in the and of the dreamable right pointbreaks. With pastilla, my favorite local driver, i drove to las flores. A dream of a right. Clean, consistent…. Getting up 5 o clock, to the beach checking the swell, surf till 9, breakfast, sleep a bit in a hammock, more surf in the evening, eat, beer, sleep….
With the swell coming i went 2 mornings to punta mango, with a boat. I got a kind of a hard time with all the pro surfers in the water, but catched my waves. Hard to getting barreld, the timing of the wave and for me backside. The second session i steped up on my 6’6.

There are no much other things to do. I checked el cuco and other beaches, but its just to hot to do bigger things in the day.

El Salvador Surf Trip – Part 03 – El Tunco, Surf- 08.2018

El Salvador, La Bocana und Sunzal in El Tunco, August 2018

Nach der Woche in den Kilometern fuhr ich für ein paar Tage zurück nach El Tunco. Hier ein paar Bilder des Surfs in El Tunco. Ein Fluss spült bei Regen den schwarzen Sand in La Bocana, bricht recht Steil und schnell, besser und länger links. Sunzal einer der bekannten Pointbreaks welcher eine lange rechte perfomance Welle produziert. Aufgrund der geringen Größe aber in den Tagen eher was für Longboarder.

After the week in the kilometers i drove back to el tunco, for a couple of days. Here are some pictures from the surf there. A river is flushing the black sand in la bocana, the wave breaks hollow and fast, better and longer to the left. Sunzal is one of the better known pointbreaks, which producing long performance rigth waves. Bcause the where not much swell coming, it was more suitable for longboards.

El Salvador Surf Trip – Part 02 – Km59, Km61- 08.2018

El Salvador, Playa de Chutia (Km59, Km61), August 2018

Für die zweite Woche ging es ein Stück westlich zum playa de chuita, besser bekannt als Km59 und Km61, die beiden rechten Point Breaks an dem Strand. Die Woche war sehr relaxt, neben mir war nur ein nettes Kalifornisches Pärchen zu Gast in der K-Lodge. Ein sehr schönes Haus mit geräumigen Zimmern, super leckeres Essen und eine sehr freundlichen, familiären Atmosphere. Neben ein paar Übernachtungsmöglichleiten kommen auch Tagesgäste aus El Tunco zum Surfen. Die Woche über gabs ca. 1 m Swell, was den beiden Points reicht um klasse Wellen zu produzieren. Km59 ist etwas konsistenter und einfacher zu surfen, brach aber auch meist in 2 Sektionen. Km61 ist etwas wilder, schneller und einiges mehr zum Paddeln. Dazwischen bricht noch eine linke Welle über den schwarzen Sand, in der sich meist die einheimischen Kids vergnüen. Wie in diesem Land wohl üblich wird beim Surfen viel gelächelt und gelacht. Der beste Surf ist morgens, da der Wind am ehesten mitspielt und es nicht so heiss ist. Ich bin meist um 5:30 Uhr aufgestanden um mir dann um 09:30 Uhr das wohl verdiente und immer sehr leckere Frühstück zu genehmigen. Als Besonderheit durfte ich einem Kindergeburtstag miterleben, mit einer Pinata, welche ich bis dahin nur aus Filmen kannte. Nach einer Woche war ich dann ziemlich verspannt, meine Füße von den Lavasteinen zerschnitten und sehr glücklich.

El Salvador, Playa de Chutia (Km59, Km61), August 2018

For the second week i moved a bit westerly to the playa de chuita, better known as Km59 ans Km61, the right point breaks on the beach. The week was very relaxed, the other guest in the K-Lodge were only a nice couple from california. A nice House with big rooms, super nice food and a friendly, familar atmosphere. There where a couple of accomondations and day visitors from El Tunco, that come to surf. In the week there was arround 4 feet swell, which was enough for the two right points to produce some fun waves. Km59 is more consistent and easier to surf, but breaks mostly in 2 sections. Km61 is more wild, faster and a lot more to paddel. In between there is a left hand beachie, manly surfed from local kids, smiling and laughing, what seems quiet normal in these country. The best surf is in the morning, best winds and not to hot. I was mostly getting uo at 5:30 and surfed till 09:30, to get delicious breakfast after. As a special i was guest on a kids birthday with a pinata, which i have known only from movies. After one week i have been oversurfed, my feet cut from the lava stones but very happy.

El Salvador Surf Trip – Part 01 – El Tunco – 07.2018

In diesem Sommer ging es arbeitsbedingt ziemlich Spontan nach El Salvador. Trotz etwas Bammel, was man so über das Land hört, buchte ich mir die Flugtickets und die erste Unterkunft in El Tunco, Costa del balsamo. El Tunco sind wohl die touristisch am besten erschlossenen Strände, mit vielen Unterkünften, Bars, Restaurats, Surfshop etc. Das erste was mir auffiel war wie freundlich die Menschen hier sind, immer am Lächeln. Von den Besuchern herscht ein bunter Mix aus Amerikanern, Brasilianer, Australier und ein paar Europäern, manche zum Surfen, manche aber auch nur so. Am Wochenende ist hier die Hölle los und auch die einheimischen kommen zu den Stränden und Partys. Kaltes Bier scheint hier zu jeder Tages- und Nachtzeit getrunken zu werdedn. Essen ist super lecker, neben den einheimischen Spezialitäten wie Pupusas, Fisch und Meeresfrüchte, Fleisch mit Zwiebeln aber auch Mexikanisch, Fast Food und alles mögliche, dauert eine Weile alles zu probieren. Gesurft bin ich die ersten Tage in Zunzal, ein vor allem Rechter Pointbreak, ziemlich Lang und Konsistent. Bei der entsprechenden Swellrichtung gehts aber auch mal links. Ziemlich Bedinerfreundlich in bis zu Kopfhohen Größe. Die letzten Tage war ich aufgrund fallenden Swells in la Bocana bzw in la Bocanita unterwegs, ein schneller Beachbreak, kann auch mal hollow werden. Der Vibe ist ziemlich entspannt, aufgrund der vielen Touristen aber nict unbedingt Aloha Felling. Meine Unterkunft ist einfach, aber erfüllt Ihren zweck. Von meinem sehr schönen Balkon, direkt am Fluss lassen sich viele Vögel beobachten und es gibt eine vielzahl an Schmetterlingen. Die Bilder sind ziemlich selbsterklärend. Morgen gehts weiter in ein Surfcamp Km61, nahe Km59. Bis jetzt fühle ich mich sehr sicher, habe keine Gangs, Gewalt oder ähnliches gesehen.

El Salvador, El Tunco July 2018
This year i headed, because of work, spontanious to El Salvador. I got a kind of fear, because there are a lot of bad stories abbout the country. I booked my flights and my first accomondation in El Tunco, Costa del Balsamo. El Tunco is the most touristic placce in El Salvador, with infrastructure like accomondations, bars, restaurants, a surfshop aso. The first thing was how friendly the people here are, always smiling. The visitors are a mix oh americans, brazilians, Australians and a couple of europeans, some to surf and some just to travel. At the weekend the locals coming to the beaches, for parties and its pretty crowded. drinking cold beer is a thing of every day and night time. Eating is super nice, next to local food like pupusas, seafood and onion meat they offer mexican, fast food and a lot of stuff, i need some time to taste all. The first day i surfed el Zunzal, a user freindly mainly right hand point break, with the wright swell direction there are also some lefts. The last days i surfed with less swell la Bocana and Bocanita, a fast beachbreak, sometimes hollow. The vibe is pretty relaxed, but with so many foreigers not realy aloha spirit. My accomondation is basic, but work for me. I got a nice balcony next to the river and spot a lot of birds and butterflies. The pictures are pretty much self explanatory. Tommorow i move to a surfcamp at km61, near km59. To this point i feel pretty safe, didn’t see gangs or violence or something like it.

Frankreich – Bretange Mai 2018 – Part 2

Der zweite Teil meines Bretagne Road Trips. Mai 2018. Für die zweite Woche war der letzte Winterswell des Nordatlantiks angekündigt. Nach netten kleinen, sauberen Tagen auf der Crozon Halbinsel ging es wieder in die Baie d’Audierne. An dem großen Tag wurden wir dan leider nicht wirklich fündig, ausser der Pointe De Lervily, welchen ich mir aber nicht mit 20 -30 anderen teilen wollte. Zum Ausklang gab es noch jede Menge BBQ`s, Tagines und das süße Strandleben. Bei dropendem Swell gabs auch noch ein paar Wellen in und um die Baie de Trepasse. Spezielle Grüße an Will, wir sollten das echt öfter machen.

The second part from my bretagne roadtrip, may 2018. The forecast shows the last incoming winterswell for the north atlantic. After a couple of small, clean day on the crozon peninsula we went back in the Baie d’Audierne. We dindn’t found good ones at the day the swell actualy arrived, to big. One exception was the Pointe De Lervily, but i wasn’t in the mood to share the small point with 20 – 30 others. At least we had a couble of BBQ’s, tagines and the sweet beach life. With the dropping swell we was lucky to share a couple of waves in and arround the Baie de Trepasse. Special greetings to my freind Will, we defenetly should do this more often.

Frankreich – Bretange Mai 2018

Hier ein paar Impresionen von meinem Frühlings Bretagne Road Trip, Mai 2018.
In La Torche habe ich mich, bei bittere kälte mit einen Freund getroffen. Es wird die 2 Wochen definitiv Swell aber auch eine Menge Wind geben. Die ersten Bilder stammen aus der Baie de Audierne, nördlich von La Torche. Die ersten Wellen bekamen wir in Saint Tugen. Traumhaft sauber aber eine geringe Periode, was den Surf nicht einfach machte. Dann folgten sonnige, warme , fast Sommer Tage in La Palue, Crozon Halbinsel, mit gutem Surf. Schöne Ecke mit viel Natur und keltischer Kultur. Gutes Bier und dem üblichen Wahnsinn eins Surf Parkplatzes, dieses Jahr hat tatsächlich ein Lokal auf meinem mini Grill geparkt, bzw wir konnten Ihn darauf aufmerksamm machen und es ihm ausreden. Der zweite Teil, vor allem mit mehr Surfbildern folgt…

Here are a couple of impressions from my spring bretagne road trip, may 2018.
To meet a friend i drove first to La Torche. It was pretty cold. The forecast shows definitly swell, but also a lot of wind for the 2 weeks. The first pictures captured in the Baie de Audierne, north from La Torche. The first waves we caught in Saint Tugen. A nice and clean swell, but the low period makes the surf dificult. Then we got some sunny, warm, almost summer days in La Palue, crozon half island, with good surf. A nice corner with a lot of nature and celtic culture. Good bear and the good odd crazieness of a surf car park. These year a local was parkig on my mini bbq, but we showed him the trouble and got him down from the hot stuff… The second part will follow soon, with more surf pictures.

Portugal Peniche – Xmas New Year 2017 – Part2

In der zweiten Woche ging es recht durchwachsen zu, aber es hielt sich mit dem Wind zum Glück in Grenzen. Ich war nur 3 Tage nicht im Wasser, einer wegen müdem Rücken und an zwei nicht wegen Sturm. Die Stränd auf den Bildern sind Lagide, Almagreira, Molhe Leste und Supertubos.

In the second week the weather was mixed up, luckily without to much wind. I stayed dry only at three days, at one my back was to tired and to i missed because it was to stormy. The beaches on the pictures are Lagide, Almagreira, Mohle Leste und Supertubos.

Portugal Peniche – Xmas New Year 2017 – Part1

Ein paar Bilder und Imressionen von meiner Weihnachtsflucht an den Atlantik, Peniche, Portugal. Das Wetter ist wie jeden Winter ein Mix aus so ziemlich allem, der Atlantik üppig mit Swell versorgt. Es lässt sich jeden Tag eine Welle finden, wobei alles ziemlich am Maximum ist, die Power zu halten.

A couple of pictures and impressions from my Xmas escape to the atlantik, Peniche, Portugal. The weather is like all winters a mix of pretty everything, plenty of swell is deliverd to the atlantik. There is a wave to find every day, but the beaches and reefs struggle to hold the power.

Middle- Southamericatrip Sommer 2017 – Peru – Huanchaco

After the big points of Pacasmayo and Chicama i went just a little south, to Huanchaco. A small fisher village near Trujillo. In Huanchaco i was resting a couple of days, the usual traveller stomach thing. The end of the trip was near, no swell arround and a not much time to go for another destiny, let me hang out in Huanchaco. Surf the small odd left point and visit some cultural stuff. I visited the temple of the moon (Huaca del Sol y la Luna), the temple of the sun is not finished and not open for visitors. The temples are build from the moche dinasty arround 1500 years ago. Huanchaco itsels is a lifley place with a lot of hostels and restaurants, heaps of backpackers who comming from the Andes to visit the pacific. But quiet and not to touristic.

Nch den großen Pointbreaks von Pacasmayo und Chicama ging es etwas weiter südlich, nach Huanchaco. Eine kleine Fischerstadt nahe Trujillo. In Huanchaco musste ich aufgrund eines Magen Problems erst mal ein paar Tage ausruhen, nicht ungewöhliches für Reisende. Das nahe Ende des Trips, kein Swell in Sicht und nicht wirklich genug Zeit für ein neues Ziel. Also noch ein paar Tage in Huanchaco abhängen. Die kleinen linken Wellen surfen und ein bischen kulturelles Zeug. Ich habe den Temple des Mondes besucht (Huaca del Sol y la Luna), der Temple der Sonne ist noch nicht fertig und für Besucher nicht zugänglich. Die Tempel wurden von der Moche Dinasty vor rund 1500 Jahren gebaut. Huanchaco ist ein sehr belebter Ort, mit vielen Hotels, Restaurants und vielen Backpackern, welche neben den Anden auch noch den Pazifik sehen wollen. Aber eher ruhig und nicht zu touristisch.

Middle- Southamericatrip Sommer 2017 – Peru – Chicama

Chicama, Peru, the longest left breaking point break in the world. I spend a couple of nice days in chicama. Surfing the dying swell in small, but sometimes perfect conditions. Easy living in the surfer town of chicama.

Chicama, Peru der länsgte links brechende Welle auf der Welt. I hatte ein paar schöne Tage in Chicama. Zum Surfen gab es den sterbenden Swell in kleinen, manchmal aber perfekte Bedingungen. Entspanntes leben in der kleinen Surfer Stadt.
